It’s a huge ballot this time out, with 28 songs vying to be part of the pantheon of music, the Hall of Songs. Did we get any inductees? Did the total get past 120?

52nd Election Results! Is it Time For 120 Inductees?

We’re back! Hall of Songs returns after another considerable break with our newest election results show. Several songs from the mid-2000s vied for the opportunity to reach our pantheon of songs, now at 119. Did we get to 120?

Up for induction are songs like “Crazy” by Gnarls Barkley, “Rehab” by Amy Winehouse,” “We Belong Together” by Mariah Carey, and “Hung Up” by Madonna. Each has made their case, you voted for your choices, and now we have numbers to report.

2003-06 Veterans Committee: Shiny Teeth, Drunken Minneapolis Nights, and Other Songs

Before we give you our 12 nominees for 2003, we decided to bring you back behind the curtain to discuss our short list.

For this special episode, we’re joined by Andrew Unterberger of Billboard as we discuss the top … uh … 30 or so songs of the year, at least by our standards. You’ll get some Outkast, Jay-Z, Britney, Dizzee Rascal, Drive By Truckers, and a whole lot more.

Here at Hall of Songs, especially as we go deeper into the 2000s, we’re starting to see the diverging music tastes of our two hosts. We’re also starting to see how seriously each of them takes the idea of nominating songs for our self-described pantheon. 

We kid. This is the Veterans Committee episode for the years 1999-2002.  Tim and Chris go back into these years and nominate four songs for the Hall of Songs. Then they discuss some of the other tunes, artists, and genres that they were into at the time.

46th Election Results: The Fate of Freedom …. ’90

For the second time in Hall of Songs history, a song lasts for a full diet of 10 elections.  So what is the fate of George Michael’s “Freedom ’90”? Will it enter our pantheon of songs? Or will freedom burn forever? 

That’s a dark way of putting it.

Anyway, other songs are also up for the Hall of Songs! Most of them are from the late 90s and 2000. OutKast, Eminem and Destiny’s Child are among the big names up for election. Tune in and find out just how they did!

45th Election Results: From ‘Freedom ’90’ to ‘Windowlicker,’ We Assess This Very ’90s Election

It’s a full diet of the 90s in our this election results show. Songs that were released from between 1990 and ’99 are up for the Hall of Songs. You voted, we tell you what happened.

43rd Election Results: On the Doorstep of 100 Hall of Songs Inductees

We started this experiment a little more than two years ago. Since, we have covered nearly 50 years of music history, nominating hundreds of songs for the Hall of Songs and ultimately inducting 97.
